Sam Edelman Size Chart
Sizing for Sam Edelman women’s and kids’ footwear — US, EU and UK conversions, boot shaft and calf guidance, style-by-style fit notes, and product care. Foot-length values are body measurements of the foot, not the inside of the shoe.
Women’s Shoes US 4 – 13
Find your foot length in the chart and read across for your size. Measure both feet and size to the larger one. Sam Edelman publishes no UK equivalent for US 5.5, so match by foot length where the UK column is blank.

Half sizes
Most Sam Edelman styles are offered in half sizes. If your measurement falls between two rows, take the larger size — especially for closed-toe and pointed-toe styles.
Widths
Standard width is Medium (B). A number of bestsellers are also offered in Wide (C/D) and some in Narrow (AA/2A); check the width selector on the style you are buying.
Kids’ Shoes Toddler · US 1 – 13
Sizes follow foot length, matched to age only as a rough guide. Measure the child’s foot standing up, weight on the foot, and allow a thumb’s width of growing room beyond the longest toe.

Boot Shaft Height Measured up the calf
Shaft height is measured from the bottom of the foot up the length of the calf with a soft tape. Sam Edelman labels its boot shafts with these ranges.
| Shaft | Heightin | Heightcm |
|---|---|---|
| Ankle | 3 – 8 | 7.5 – 20.5 |
| Mid-Calf | 8 – 13.5 | 20.5 – 34.5 |
| Tall / Knee High | 13.5 – 17 | 34.5 – 43 |
| Over the Knee | > 17 | > 43 |
Calf Circumference
Wrap a soft measuring tape around the fullest part of the calf and compare with the boot’s listed shaft opening.
| Circumference | in | cm |
|---|---|---|
| Standard calf opening | 16 | 40.5 |
Heel height
Heel height is measured from where the heel meets the sole down to the bottom-most tip. Flat and low styles run up to 4″; each product page lists the exact height of the style.
Wide calves
Several popular tall-boot styles are also offered in wide-calf versions. If the shaft gaps at the top or zips under tension, look for the wide-calf option instead of sizing up in length.
Style-by-Style Fit Notes
General guidance across the line — always check the fit hints on the individual product page, since lasts are refined from season to season.
Ballet flats
True to size with a snug, secure fit. The toe box can feel narrow for wide feet — go up half a size if you are between sizes.
Loafers
True to size. Structured leather feels tight at first and stretches with wear; wide feet may prefer the Wide width over sizing up.
Pointed-toe pumps
The tapered toe box runs snug. Medium or narrow feet stay true to size; wider feet or in-between sizes should take the half size up.
Sandals & slides
Open-toe styles are forgiving and run true to size. Slide bands can press on a high instep — half a size up adds room across the top of the foot.
Boots & booties
True to size with thin socks or tights. For thick winter socks, take the half size up and check the calf opening for tall shafts.
Sneakers
Roomy and true to size for most feet, with a generous toe box — no need to size up.
Fit Updates & Between Sizes
- Refined fits: the women’s line underwent a fit review with updated sizing on many styles (effective from mid-2022 in some regions). If an older pair fit you well, re-check your size against the current chart rather than assuming.
- Box label vs. shoe label: the size printed on the shoebox label is the accurate one; the label inside the shoe may occasionally differ. The boxed size is correct.
- Synthetic uppers: unlike leather, synthetic materials will not stretch much over time — buy the size that fits on day one.
- Break-in tip: try new pairs indoors on carpet so they can be returned or exchanged if the fit is not right.
How to Measure
Foot length
Sit on a chair and place your foot flat on a piece of paper. Trace the outline with a pencil held vertically — the longest toe and the back of the heel matter most. Measure from the bottom of the heel to the tip of the longest toe with a ruler, record it in both inches and centimeters, and match it in the chart. If one foot is larger, use the larger foot.
Heel height
Measure from where the heel meets the sole down to the bottom-most tip of the heel.
Boot shaft height
With a soft measuring tape, measure from the bottom of the foot up the length of the calf to the top of the shaft.
Calf circumference
Wrap the soft tape around the fullest part of the calf and compare with the boot’s shaft opening.
Product Care
Leather
Spray with stain repellent before wear; store away from direct sunlight and heat to avoid drying. Wipe soiled areas with a clean, damp cloth and dry naturally. Buff to a shine with neutral or matching cream polish and a soft, dry cloth — avoid liquid polishes and silicone-based products.
Patent leather
Keep away from other patent leather and plastic to prevent color transfer. Clean only with patent-leather cleaner; never use household cleaning products.
Suede
Spray with stain repellent before wear and store away from items that transfer color. Use a suede eraser or soft brush for dry dirt, brushing in the direction of the nap. Wet or oily stains should go to a professional cleaner — never polish or wire-brush suede.
Beaded & printed materials
Do not spray with repellent — it can discolor the finish. Store away from items that transfer color or snag beading.
